Confederate Saddle Blanket Civil War
$250.00     Shipping Cost: $24.95*
During the 1990's, I had the good fortune to be where massive amounts of civil war relics were being dug up in downtown Nashville, TN. A huge federal army dumpsite exposed thousands of civil war relics and for months a few friends and I recovered all kinds of relics, including some of the rarest items you could ever wish to find. One hot night in July, myself and a friend brought Coleman lanterns to light our diggings and spot relics easier. I recovered a dozen of what I thought were old garage floor mats. Unfortunately, I tossed them aside, but in fact they were ID"d as Confederate saddle blankets made from Spanish Moss and Hemp fibers. (Read Ken Knopp's article in North South Trader magazine). None were have known to survive the war. Greatfully, one of my friends arrived on the scene the next morning and recognized what they were. History saved again! Today I only have one nearly complete blanket, one Artillery blanket and several pieces. This is one of the remnants I am parting with; an extremely rare piece of Southern history. If you have questions, just give me a call. Thank you for looking. NOTE: Frame not included.
