Civil War Sword Scabbard: Shiloh

Eleven inch lower section of a sword scabbard from Shiloh, Tennessee. Recovered on private property with permission decades ago. Complete with drag. It was a common practice of the Union army to bury or destroy any weapons, accouterments, equipment or useful items scoured from battle fields or surrounding areas so as not to be picked up by civilians and turned over to Confederate forces. In fact, Grant (US) issued general orders making all such contraband "property of the United States government." We can only surmise this broken scabbard was destroyed by a union soldier but we'll never know the truth as relics can't talk :) $75.00 USD includes 12" x 8.5" display case.  Buyer pays shipping or locals may pick up.
